Away games (Ole Miss Sept 19, Kentucky Oct 10, Auburn Oct 24, Tennessee Nov 21, Arkansas Nov 28) do not generate Baton Rouge traffic, and LSU is on bye October 31.
A note on kickoff times: the SEC releases several of them only 6 to 12 days out. That matters more than people expect. A 6:30 PM kickoff and an 11:00 AM kickoff produce completely different days — the late one means a return leg after midnight, the early one means leaving New Orleans before sunrise. Why the 80-mile drive takes 3 hours on game day
The interstate mileage is not the problem. Three specific things are:
- The Gonzales corridor. I-10 West between LaPlace and Gonzales compresses on Saturday mornings, and it does not clear until well after kickoff.
- The last two miles. Nicholson Drive and River Road funnel every vehicle toward the stadium. This stretch alone can eat 45 minutes on a night game.
- Lot access rules. Tiger Stadium's parking and drop-off zones shift by game. Where a charter bus can legally stage is not where a sedan drops off.
